In case you missed it, D'Angelico Guitars released their new Excel Series semi-hollows this week! The Excel SS, Excel DC, and Mini DC all feature ebony fingerboards with a 16" radius, Grover 509 Super Rotomatic locking tuners, and are loaded with a '59 Model in the neck and a JB Model in the bridge—both of which are splittable via push-pull knobs!
The '59 in the neck delivers clear and well-defined P.A.F. tone with tons of old-school tonal character, but with a brighter top end and a slightly more compressed sound. Meanwhile, the JB in the bridge provides a full and powerful low end, crisp and detailed highs, and an upper midrange bump that adds crunch to heavy chords while translating to a singing, vocal-like quality when you play single notes or solos.
